In a chilling tale of domestic violence and murder, Ajith Kumar Mupparappu, a pharmacist based in the UK, was accused of plotting to eliminate his estranged wife, Sirisha, her family, and anyone close to them. The story begins with a tragic poisoning that affected the Rao family, including Sashirekha, Sirisha's sister-in-law, and her mother-in-law, Uma Maheshwari. The case unfolded in a series of events that revealed Ajith's extreme actions and the lengths he went to in an attempt to gain control over his ex-wife's life.
The marriage of Sirisha's brother, Purnender, to Sashirekha in June 2023, was marked by uneasiness. Both the bride and groom, along with other family members, fell ill, vomiting and experiencing other symptoms. This incident, however, was just the tip of the iceberg. The real horror began when Sashirekha was diagnosed with arsenic poisoning, a deadly poison. Dr. Vemuri Rama Tarakanath's discovery of white lines on Sashirekha's fingernails, known as Mees' lines, was a crucial clue. The subsequent tests confirmed the presence of arsenic in her body, about 10 times the normal limit.
The investigation led the Telangana Police to Ajith, who had a degree in pharmacy and access to arsenic. Ajith's plan involved mixing arsenic in salt and chilli powder, which he had delivered to the Rao family's home. Uma, who was away, returned on May 20, 2023, and the family's health began to deteriorate. The poisoned food, prepared using the tampered spices, affected Sashirekha and other family members, leading to symptoms of arsenic poisoning. The tragic death of Uma's mother, M Uma Maheshwari, on July 5, 2023, further intensified the situation.
Sirisha, living in the UK, approached the police and accused Ajith of poisoning her mother. Ajith's actions were not limited to the Rao family. He had also attempted to kill Sirisha's father, Hanumantha Rao, by staging a road accident and hiring contract killers. The police uncovered Ajith's plans to inject Sirisha's family members with succinylcholine, a poison that would result in their immediate death. However, these attempts were never executed.
Ajith's obsession with eliminating Sirisha and her family led him to take matters into his own hands. He arranged for a food delivery app partner to deliver poison-laced spices to the Rao family's home. The police arrested nine individuals, including Ajith's sister, Mupparapu Surekha, who revealed how Ajith had orchestrated the delivery. Ajith, however, remained at large in the UK, and the extradition process was ongoing.
The case highlights the extreme measures some individuals will take to gain control over their ex-partners' lives. Ajith's actions, driven by a desire for revenge and control, resulted in a series of tragic events. The Rao family's survival and Sashirekha's pregnancy offer a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness. This story serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing domestic violence and the potential consequences of unchecked anger and obsession.
